How pickup works
You order online by Thursday. We bake on Friday. You pick up on Saturday — fresh, still a little warm.
Where to pick up
We have two pickup spots — both in Venice. Pick the one that's easiest for you at checkout.
The salon
Venice, FL
Saturdays, 9 AM – 12 PM
The salon isn't a storefront — it's where we hand orders off. Walk in, give us your name, leave with bread.
Venice Farmers Market
Tarpon Center Drive, Venice
Saturdays, 8 AM – 12 PM, year-round
We post the booth location each Friday on Instagram.
We don't ship and we aren't on DoorDash, Uber Eats, or any third-party app. Florida cottage food law says every order goes from us straight to you — and we like it that way.
How to order
- 1Browse this week's menu on Tuesday morning. New menu drops by Tuesday at noon.
- 2Add what you want. Choose your pickup spot at checkout.
- 3Pay through Square. You'll get a confirmation email right away and a reminder Friday afternoon.
- 4Pick up Saturday. We'll have your name on a card next to your loaf.
If a loaf sells out before you order, the menu page tells you. We bake to order, not to inventory — what we have is what we have.
Allergens, ingredients, and what's in the kitchen
Wheat is in everything. All of our breads are wheat-based.
Nuts, seeds, and dairy appear in some products. Each product page declares them.
Cross-contact is possible. Mom bakes from a home kitchen. Equipment is shared across products. If you have a serious allergy, please use your judgment.
No animal productsin our standard sourdough loaves. Some items contain butter or eggs — those are labeled.
If you have a question about a specific product, email us at hello@crusttocoast.com. We answer within a day.
Cancellation, swaps, and missed pickups
To cancel or change an order, reply to your confirmation email by Friday at noon. Before that we can refund you fully or swap your loaf for something else.
After Friday noon, the dough is already shaped and proofing. We can't cancel, but we can usually move your pickup time or hold the order for someone you'd like to send.
Missed your pickup?Email us by Saturday evening and we'll work something out — usually a held loaf for the following week. We hate seeing bread go to waste and so do you.
Storms, sickness, and the rare bad batch
Florida being Florida, sometimes the week doesn't go to plan.
Hurricane or tropical storm:if the market is canceled or pickup is unsafe, we email everyone with options — full refund or move to next week.
If we get sick:if Mom is sick, we don't bake. You'll hear from us as early as we know. Refund or move forward, your call.
A loaf that isn't right:if anything we hand you isn't what you ordered or doesn't taste right, tell us. We'll make it right that week or refund — no questions, no awkwardness.
Frequently asked questions
- Is the salon a bakery?
- No. Mom bakes from her home kitchen. The salon is a handoff spot — somewhere convenient for Venice customers to grab their order. Florida cottage food law is specific about this, and so are we.
- Can I order from outside Florida?
- Florida residents only, sorry. Cottage food law limits us to direct sales within the state. If you have family in Venice, send them — they’re welcome to pick up on your behalf.
- Can I order for delivery?
- Mom delivers locally herself when she has time, mostly to neighbors and longtime customers. We will not list with DoorDash, Uber Eats, Instacart, or any third-party service — that’s not allowed under our license.
- Do you offer wholesale, restaurant, or consignment orders?
- Not at this time. Florida cottage food rules are direct-to-consumer only. If you run a Venice business and want to talk about something else, email us anyway — we’ll figure out what’s possible.
- How fresh is the bread?
- Pulled from the oven Friday afternoon or Saturday morning, depending on the loaf. Sourdough is at its best the day you get it, but it keeps well for three to four days in a paper bag at room temp. Don’t refrigerate it.
- What’s the best way to store sourdough?
- Cut-side down on a wood board, paper bag, or bread box. Skip the plastic — it traps moisture and softens the crust. Slice as you go, not all at once. If you’re not finishing it within four days, slice the rest, freeze flat, and toast straight from frozen.
- Can I freeze a whole loaf?
- Yes. Wrap tightly in plastic wrap, then foil, then a freezer bag. Thaw at room temperature in the wrapping. Crisp the crust in a 350°F oven for ten minutes when you take it out.
- Do you offer gift orders?
- Yes. At checkout, add a note in the order comments — we’ll write a tag for the recipient and have it ready at pickup. Gift orders work the same as any other: Florida pickup only.
- What about classes or starter adoption?
- Coming soon. We’re working on a “starter adoption” program — you take home a piece of our starter, named, with care notes. Watch the homepage or sign up for the email list.
- How do I know what’s on the menu this week?
- The menu refreshes Tuesday at noon. Subscribe to our email list and you’ll get a Tuesday morning preview before everything goes live.
- Do you take requests for specific loaves?
- Sometimes. If you want something we don’t usually offer — a particular hydration, a different flour, a weekend with no caraway — email us by Sunday night and we’ll see what fits the week’s bake.
- What if I’m celiac or gluten-sensitive?
- We bake with wheat, flour dust is in the air, and equipment is shared. We’re not a gluten-free kitchen and can’t safely serve celiac customers. Sourdough’s slow fermentation does ease digestion for some people with mild gluten sensitivity, but that’s an individual call — please use your judgment.
- Is there a minimum order?
- No minimum. Order a single loaf or a dozen. We do ask that orders over $200 get placed by Wednesday so we can plan the bake.
- Are tips appreciated?
- Mom doesn’t expect tips — the price is the price. If you want to leave one anyway, Square has a tip option at checkout. The whole tip goes to her.
